School Social Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Kentucky School Social Work Certification

2. Masters’ Degree in Social Work

REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or Designee

JOB GOALS: To provide social work services to eligible students and their families in order to eliminate or reduce physical or emotional barriers to the students’ academic achievement and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attends work daily, being in prompt attendance, and remains on duty as specified by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee.

2. Assesses, in collaboration with the school staff, the student's physical, social and emotional needs.

3. Provides family assessments as needed.

4. Develops, implements, and evaluates, in collaboration with the school staff and parents/guardians, intervention plans for the students.

5. Collaborates with teachers, other school personnel, and agencies to secure needed services for students.

6. Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide crises

7. Submits monthly reports of social work services.

8. Maintains appropriate records.

9. Provides parent education and/or support groups.

10. Makes home, community, and agency visits as needed.

11. Assists in coordination of parent meetings.

12. Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.

13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
