JOB DESCRIPTION: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters’ and/or Specialist Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology
  2. Three (3) years of professional clinical and/or school experience is preferred

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

 

JOB GOALS: To provide assessment, consultation and counseling services; counsel children; consultation with teachers, parents and other significant adults; coordinate a variety of activities and functions related to the mental health, academic, social, emotional and physical needs of students; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Attends work daily, being in prompt attendance, and remains on duty as specified by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee.
  2. Provides individual and group counseling for students to address specific social emotional needs and monitors progress.
  3. Provides evidence based and culturally responsive best practices when working with youth.
  4. Assists district and school level Crisis Response events and preparedness planning.
  5. Consults with teachers and parents about children’s needs, social emotional well-being, concerns and academic issues.
  6. Collaborates with school staff and community representatives in assessing student needs and utilizes the data to develop prevention and intervention plans.
  7. Works with parents and staff to help increase their understanding and constructive participation in appropriate efforts to help alleviate barriers to students social emotional well-being.
  8. Provides home visits as needed to assess family circumstances and makes needed referrals to community resources for problems interfering with the child’s academic progress, social, emotional or physical development.
  9. Serves as a resource person on the Special Education Admissions and Release Committee when appropriate. 
  10. Works in collaboration with other student support professionals to conduct social emotional screenings.
  11. Maintains documentation of students seen in individual or group settings.
  12. Selects and attends professional development as required by the State and District.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
  14. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education/Superintendent.



TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
